Entry #2 for The Imperial Public Race

Story:
Katara had spent a few days practising flying starts with Atom as he was used to starting gates. She could feel his eagerness to run but also his hesitation at the lack of a starting gate. When race day arrived Atom was keyed up to run and run and RUN. Kat could feel his energy beneath him building and Atom started to prance beneath her. Kat had tied her light brown hair in a bun and was adjusting her reins. When the horses had all come into line and were ready to take off Atom just exploded and started to run for the lead requiring Kat to adjust his pace. Kat kept him pretty steady throughout the race and once the finish line came into sight Atom switched gears to the next burst of speed challenging for the lead.
